Introducing Cash Clay

Alot of our readers may know Cash from The Disregarded, but Cash is about to embark on a new path as a country solo artist.  Just last week, he won W4 Country’s 2009 Country Idol, which normally is just glorified Karaoke (just like American Idol) but Cash took down the title singing an original DIS tune, “Waffle House Waitress”.  I applaud the judges in having the balls to go against the norm and pick someone singing an original.  They then brough Cash on the air this morning to chat it up with their morning jock and to sign the song live.  Cash did a great job live this morning and you can expect to hear a lot more from Cash Clay in the near future!

The Best Rapper You’ve Never Heard Of….

Goes by the name of Chance.  Now any of you who might have heard of him, probably know him from his association with Big and Rich’s Musik Mafia,  He had a spot performing his song “Ridin On Chrome”  (You’re probably hearing it now) on one of their CMT specials and really showed his ability to rock the stage in a live setting.  Chance seems to have been held back by who he’s associated himself with, the Music Mafia thing fizzled out, from what it seems they had some differences over the musical content and parted ways (Just my observation, have no clue what actually went down).  I’ve since seen him align himself to be marketed with a couple different companys and neither have really gotten off the ground or given Chance the push that he needs.  Part of the issue is his name, Chance is a very basic “search term” and if you search Chance Rapper, you normally get  Biggie’s “One More Chance”, he’s tried a few modifiers “nashville chance”  “platinum chance” and neither seemed to stick.  I think his best bet is to use Nashville Chance or something to that effect.  Using just “Chance” will never work as an independent rapper in my opinion, he’ll never get the internet support needed to get rolling.  But Chance has release a couple mixtapes “The Best” and “The Last” that I purchased a couple years ago and has a new one he’s promoting now called “The Storyteller”.  haven’t heard that one yet, gonna try to get my hands on a copy to review here at RWPM.com.  He also looks to have a new promotional deal in the works for his new album “Troublemaker” which looks to be featuring all the great “unheard” songs he’s recorded so far, so hopefully this one works for Chance and finally gets him the recognition he deserves, after all, how many white rappers from tennessee can make the trip to Detroit and win one of the last battles hosted by the late great Proof (RIP).  I know at least one, and now maybe you will too.  You can find Chance at Myspace here

http://www.myspace.com/chanceworld

I’m trying to get Chance to do an interview for the site, so if anyone reading is in his camp and an make that happen, shoot me an email and let’s make it happen.

For the readers, maybe you think I have it wrong and you know the “best rapper I’ve never heard of?” if so comment on this post and I’ll check out anyone who gets listed and let you know if I’m still right.

Meet Whitey Morgan & the 78’s

Whitey Morgan and the 78’s are a country band from Flint Michigan.  Whitey was originally the drummer for Flint band Dixie Hustler (Best Unsigned Band Ever I’ve ever seen live) and when he originally split from Whitey Morgan they did a lot of covers and even opened for a Dixie Hustler show I attended.  I’ve personally never heard a modern day country act that sounded so much like the 70’s outlaws.  Sometimes you’d swear it was the oldies station on the radio.

There are no flip-flops in country music. There is no Margaritaville or sandy beaches for outlaws.

Whitey and the 78’s aren’t your average Kenny Chesney radio type country act, this sounds way more like your dads country than what you’ll hear on CMT.  You can check out their links below and you can get their album “Honey Tonks and Cheap Motels” at Amazon here. I liked the original band name of the “Waycross Georgia Farmboys”, but I’m sure there was a reason they made the change.  If you’re in the Michigan area, you can catch one of their many shows in the area this summer Tour Schedule Here.

The Disregarded: Update

Now I post a ton on these guys and have a song or two in the player to the right as well.  We were set to release a new cd of their tunes right here through radiowontplayme.com this summer, but that plan has hit a snag and it looks as though some creative differences have made the band decide to take a hiatus.  We’ll keep you updated if we hear anything, and maybe I’ll throw up a few demos to let ya’ll in on what the fellas had in store on their newest record.

Check ‘Em Out: Tim Montana

So I stumbled across this dude on Myspace, and I’m digging his sound, it’s country without being Keith Urban BS country.  A lot of these country guys start out like this guy, then get to nashville and they turn them into sissies.  see Jack Ingram, Pat Green, etc…  So check out his page and let me know what you think.  We’re going a bit away from the oriniginal theme of the blog, less and less hip hop music is actually making me excited about it, so I’m going to broaden my horizons a little and see what I can find that its rwpm.com worthy.

Mac Lethal - Love Potion 5

Let me introduce you to Mac Lethal, dude dropped one of the most slept on albums of 2008 (Oct 07’s 11:11) and has been dropping mixtapes on the regular. One of the best battle rappers there is (Scribble Jam Winner 2002) and also has the ability to put together nice songs to go along with the sick verses, which only a few “battle rappers” ever actually figure out (Quest MCODY, Em, the list is short if you follow the battles online).

So Mac’s newest mixtape is the 5th in his “Love Potion” series. As with each volume before it, you can feel and hear Mac’s growth with each volume, and this edition is either way deeper or before or my ears are finally picking up on it. The album starts out with an analysis of “White Rappers”

“Some White rappers are good, but just like most rappers, most white rappers suck”

Rating…..4.5/5  Click here to Purchase

Songs to check out: Listen to it straight through, solid mixtape without throw away tracks.
